The influence of nickel as minority alloying element on the corrosion behavior amorphous alloys (Al74Cu16Mg10)99Ni, (Al74Cu16Mg10)98Ni2 and (Al74Cu16Mg10)97Ni3 was investigated. were obtained ribbons by Chill Block Melt Spinning (CBMS). structure proven X-ray diffraction (XRD) transmission electron microscopy (TEM). rate calculated gravimetric using continuous immersion tests for 360 hours in 3.5% NaCl solution at a temperature 25oC. lowest found alloy containing 3 at. % Ni. chemical composition accumulated products studied XRD.The local resistance (Al74Cu16Mg10)100-хNiх x = 0, 1, 2, 3% investigated electrochemically 25°C. Pitting potential (Epitt) repassivation (Erp) determined. It that most resistant to pitting alloy, which showed noblest (Epitt -0.332 V) (Erp -0.530 V).All test results nickel-containing compared base Al74Cu16Mg10 alloy.

Effect of Cu content on the Electrochemical Corrosion Behavior of Peak-aged Al-6Si-0.5Mg Alloys in Sodium Chloride Solution
The purpose of this study is to understand the electrochemical corrosion behavior of 1wt% Cu content Al-6Si-0.5Mg alloy in 0.1M NaCl solution. The potentiodynamic polarization curves reveal that 1wt% Cu content alloy is less prone to corrosion than the Cu free alloy. The EIS test results show that corrosion resistance or polarization resistance (Rct) increases with the addition of 1wt% Cu to Al...
متن کاملAl - Mg - Cu based alloys and pure Al processed by high pressure torsion : the influence of alloying additions on strengthening
The influence of alloying additions on strengthening of high pressure torsion (HPT) processed alloys was investigated using commercially pure Al (Al-1050 alloy) and five Al-(1-3)Mg-(0-4)Cu alloys (in wt%). Microhardness was measured on cross sections. For Al-1050 the microhardness reaches a peak at an effective strain of about 3 and subsequently decreases. The microhardness of Al-Mg-Cu alloys i...
متن کاملEffects of Alloying Element Ca on the Corrosion Behavior and Bioactivity of Anodic Films Formed on AM60 Mg Alloys
Effects of alloying element Ca on the corrosion behavior and bioactivity of films formed by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) on AM60 alloys were investigated. The corrosion behavior was studied by conducting electrochemical tests in 0.9% NaCl solution while the bioactivity was evaluated by soaking the specimens in simulated body fluid (SBF). Under identical anodization conditions, the PEO fi...

In this research, comparative study of corrosion resistance of aluminum based alloys and Al-alloys with nickel have been investigated. Several processes are conducted for the AlZn-Mg-Cu alloys and Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-0.5%Ni alloys were homogenized, aged then retrogressed and reaged; also, alloys were homogenized then the extruded thereafter heat treated. Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy and AlZn-Mg-Cu-Ni alloy sample...
متن کاملThe Role of Alloying Elements on the Crevice Corrosion Behavior of Ni-Cr-Mo Alloys
The roles of the alloying elements Mo, Cr, and W in resisting crevice corrosion of UNS N06022, UNS N06625, and UNS N10362 have been studied under galvanostatic conditions in 5 mol/L NaCl at 150°C. Corrosion damage patterns were investigated using surface analytical techniques such as scanning electron microscopy and optical imaging, and the corrosion products characterized by energy dispersive ...
